Andrea Kihlstedt

I never set out to be a fundraiser or in the fundraising business. But many generous and smart people in fundraising held out their hands to lead me from one stepping stone to another. Until, now, 30 years later I find that I’ve written 4 books on the subject. People actually pay me to speak at conferences. And, perhaps more important, folks come to hear what I have to say.

Honestly, it’s not fundraising that fascinates me, it’s the human spirit and kindness and generosity and courage. For me, fundraising is just a petrie dish in which to watch those amazing qualities dance.

I’m what you might call an accidental expert.

I keep being drawn to new ideas and after a while… sometimes a long while… I wind up knowing something.

My favorite storyteller is...

...My favorite storyteller is Ira Glass of This American Life, because he makes a life finding other people's stories and giving them a chance to tell them.

Books I've written:

Train Your Board (and Everyone Else) to Raise Money

How to Raise $1 Million (Or More!) in 10 Bite-sized Steps
