Saturday, 4pm, end of long board retreat. Jeff, a seasoned trustee, says, “I’ve been to a dozen board trainings on how to raise money and I’ve hated every one, but after today, I feel equipped to represent this organization powerfully among people who align with our mission. I can hardly wait!”
This is what I get to do every day.
I’ve been raising money joyfully for over 40 years, as a board member, development director, executive director, and consultant to thousands of nonprofits nationwide. I’m irreverent, a little too frank, and I like to offer simple, no-cost solutions to age-old problems, delivered with humor and chocolate. I’m a Seattle-area author and university professor, and I’m eager to learn all about YOU.
My favorite storyteller is...
...My father. He was a captivating storyteller. I grew up watching him change hearts as a minister, change minds as a teacher, and offer value as a salesman. People responded to his earnest desire to engage with his audience and establish an authentic connection with them that benefited everyone involved.
